Access restricted to public sector bodies
To access the WAS-Tool, you must use MitID Business which is issued by your organization.
Private entities are not permitted to use the WAS-Tool for publishing accessibility statements, as it is intended solely for use by public sector bodies. The Danish Web Accessibility Act does not apply to private entities, and the Danish Agency for Digital Government selects samples for the monitoring effort based on accessibility statements from WAS-Tool. Private entities can create their own accessibility statements, but these must not be confused with statements created in the WAS-Tool.
Publishing the accessibility statement
Once you have created, completed, and published the accessibility statement for your website or mobile application, it will be available at the following link:
- ”was.digst.dk/yourwebsitedomainname-dk” for websites
- ”was.digst.dk/app-yourappname” for mobile applications
However, publishing is only complete when you have ensured that users can access the statement.
For websites, it is legally required to:
- Link to the accessibility statement in the website footer, if practically possible.
For mobile applications, it is legally required to:
- Link to the statement either in the app store or on the authority's website in the footer.
The Danish Agency for Digital Government recommends:
- Link to the statement using an easy-to-remember URL, e.g. “yourdomain.dk/was,” if practically possible.
- Naming the link to the accessibility statement “accessibility statement.”
- Also linking to the accessibility statement within the mobile application itself.
